Virtues of Attending Jumuah Early

Virtues of Attending Jumuah Early

Introduction

Friday, known as Jumuah, is a day of great significance in Islam. It's often regarded as the most blessed day of the week.

On this day, Muslims come together for the special Jumuah prayer and gather to listen to the Imam's Khutbah, or sermon.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) highlighted the importance of arriving early for Jumuah, underlining the tremendous rewards that await those who make it a point to show up ahead of others.

One fascinating narration from Sahih Al-Bukhari (Hadith No. 929) illustrates how angels are present to record the names of those who attend, noting their arrival times and the rewards they earn accordingly.

Virtues-of-Attending-Jumuah-Early

Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA): The Prophet (PBUH) said

When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals.

The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice).

The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out [for Salat-ul-Jumuah (Jumuah prayer)] they fold their papers and listen to the Khutba (religious talk).

Lessons from the Hadith

Angels Record the Worshippers: Angels keep a record of everyone who shows up for Jumuah, noting their names based on when they arrive. This highlights how important it is to be punctual.

Rewards Are Like Sacrifices: Arriving early has its perks, much like making meaningful sacrifices. Whether it’s a camel or an egg, the rewards you reap can vary based on when you show up.

Listening to the Khutbah: As soon as the Imam starts speaking, the angels pause their recording and attentively listen. This shows that the Khutbah is a vital act of worship.

Value of Early Preparation: Getting to the mosque early reflects a genuine desire to please Allah and to receive the greatest blessings possible.

Conclusion

This Hadith emphasizes the tremendous rewards that come with arriving early for the Jumuah prayer and the importance of paying close attention to the Khutbah.

Muslims are encouraged to set aside their daily tasks, prepare in advance, and make their way to the mosque to earn the greatest blessings.

Just as sacrifices hold a special place in Islam, showing up for Jumuah early brings about significant spiritual benefits.

By embracing this Sunnah, believers not only gain Allah’s favor but also reinforce their bond with the community while receiving a weekly reminder of their faith.
