Women Leaving the Mosque First

Narrated Umm Salama (RA): Whenever Allah's Messenger (PBUH) completed the Salat (prayer) with Taslim, the women used to get up immediately and Allah's Messenger (PBUH) would remain at his place for sometime before getting up. 

The subnarrator (Az-Zuhri) said, We think, and Allah knows better, that he did so, so that the women might leave before the men could catch up with them.

Explanation and Wisdom

This Hadith showcases the wisdom, kindness, and regard for modesty that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) embodied in public worship. After the prayers, women would promptly leave the mosque, while the Prophet (PBUH) would take a moment before rising. 

This thoughtful approach helped create a respectful environment, allowing women to exit without the risk of mingling with men unnecessarily.

Moreover, it underscores the significance of haya (modesty), dignity, and the protection of women’s rights during community gatherings in Islam. 

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) illustrated a perfect balance by ensuring that women had the opportunity to attend the mosque while also putting forth guidelines that prioritized their comfort and safety.
