How Prayer Was Prescribed on the night

Narrated Aishah (RA.) the Mother of believers: Allah enjoined As-Salat (the prayer) when he enjoined it, it was two Rak’a only (in every Salat) both when in residence or during a journey. Then the Salat offered during a journey remained the same, but (the Rak’a of) Salat for non-travellers were increased.
